Biography

Dr. Elena Marchetti is the Program Director of MIAW. Her research centres on spatial AI systems for the built environment — specifically how neural scene representations (NeRF, Gaussian Splatting) can be integrated into early-stage architectural and urban design workflows. She brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of computational design and applied machine learning.

Her practice spans academic research, tool development deployed in professional AEC contexts, and structured pedagogy for technical professionals. She has lectured at leading architecture and engineering schools across Europe and Latin America.

At MIAW she leads Modules F0, F2, and F8 — covering AI foundations and working environments, world modelling with Gaussian Splatting and neural rendering, and the integration of AI capabilities into adaptive professional ecosystems.
